LAUSD’s Parent Jail

December 12, 2016 by Carl J. Petersen

Disruptive Person Letters (DPL) are issued by principals within the LAUSD when someone interferes with the ability “to maintain a safe campus free of disruption.” There is concern among parents that in addition to protecting against “behavior that poses a danger to staff or students”, these letters are also being used to retaliate against those […]

Who Does The LAUSD Board Serve?

September 14, 2016 by Carl J. Petersen

Charter families have lined up at dawn in biting cold winds holding babies. They’ve sweated it out for hours standing around ice chests or taking turns under canopies. Bea The LAUSD claims that “special education centers are unnecessary because the District can ‘provide all supports and services…at a general education site”, […]

Our School “is permitted to meet with your child without your knowledge of prior consent.” –James W. Salin, GHCHS Governing Board Chair Like a page out of 1984, Granada Hills Charter High School (GHCHS) includes stock language in responses to complaints asserting that “GHCHS values your input”, while the actual response shows the direct opposite. Controlling Information

December 14, 2015 by Carl J. Petersen

Democracy must be built through open societies that share information. When there is information, there is enlightenment. When there is debate, there are solutions. When there is no sharing of power, no rule of law, no accountability, there is abuse, corruption, subjugation and indignation.” -Atifete Jahjaga During the last Budget, Facilities and Audit Committee meeting […]
