¡Ref Rodriguez: RESIGN!

February 25, 2018 by Brad

LAUSD School Board Member Ref Rodriguez continues to represent LAUSD stakeholders while accused of felony crimes. Please sign this petition demanding his resignation.

En Español: ¡Ref Rodríguez: RENUNCIA!

Ref Rodriguez has been charged with felony “…conspiracy, perjury and procuring and offering a false or forged instrument, as well as 25 misdemeanor counts related to alleged campaign money laundering during his successful 2015 run for office”. (LA Times, 12/13/17)

The misappropriations involve more than $300,000 laundered through his charter chain, “Partnerships to Uplift Communities” or “PUC”.

Since the allegations, serious conflict-of-interest concerns have emerged with PUC “..neglecting to provide comprehensive responses and accurate information…” to LA Unified officials. (KPCC-NPR, 12/13/17)

Yet even while under formal suspicion of these crimes, Ref Rodriguez continues to represent LAUSD stakeholders. It is disgraceful that a school board member – a role model for our children – should continue to serve in these circumstances, absent honor and integrity.

Ref Rodriguez cannot be trusted with public monies intended for our children.

Ref Rodriguez cannot be trusted with our children’s best interests.

We, the undersigned voting stakeholders (parents and others), demand that Refugio Rodriguez step down from LAUSD’s Board of Education. If he cannot be trusted, Ref cannot be permitted to vote on our children’s future.

There is no place for corruption on LAUSD’s board. A special election to fill his seat should be scheduled without delay upon Ref Rodriguez’ immediate resignation.
