Drop SB 132 and HB 261: Tennessee, Quit Using Grades to Punish Kids Living in Poverty

Unspeakably mean policies proposed for Tennessee school children: they get to eat only if they get good grades. The state’s Temporary Assistance to Needy Families benefits are already threadbare, with no increase since 1996, and if benefits are conditioned upon children’s test scores, children who already struggle will receive less.

Urge State Senator Stacey Campfield (@StaceyCampfield) and House of Representatives Vance Dennis to drop SB 132 and HB 261, the bills that would make kids living in poverty risk meals or rent for their whole families if they get bad grades.
