




PTAs & other 501c3 groups are prohibited from supporting particular political candidates (even school board candidates) as a condition of non-profit status. This is a terrible hindrance to the civic participation of parents & other community stakeholders in the process of choosing the best school board candidates and leaves school boards open to takeover by religious extremists in violation of the First Amendment and those in thrall to lucrative “ed reform” agendas. K12NN’s goal is to provide online tools & a space for activist parents to openly discuss the politics surrounding school governance, local and state funding, and so on. What could be more important or necessary than to use the democratic process to protect and promote public education?
