What Kids are Eating at School for Lunch
Here is how it works: Post a picture of the day’s school lunch, name of the school/district and the type of food. Let’s make visible what our kids are eating! With over 13 Million American children living in poverty, the school provided lunch is the only meal many of these children can count on and eat every day because they have no choice. This page was created to shed light on what passes as a nutritional school meal. This group photo, captured by teacher Kareem Louverture, represents a full portion of what some students are fed for lunch at his school. After posting his photo to my networks, the outrage was unanimous, and this page was suggested to bring light to what is causing underserved youth to suffer from obesity, and other serious mental and physical health consequences. Please post pictures regularly of school provided lunches to make more visible the real food options youth have, and inspire us all to advocate for something better.
