Dr. Diane Ravitch, professor of education history and former member of the Department of Education under George H. W. Bush (senior), renounced her support of the George W. Bush (junior) administration’s education policy, No Child Left Behind, a few years back. She called it “fundamentally flawed” and in need of “radical overhaul.”

She’s since become an outspoken supporter of public schools and teachers, and a fierce advocate for anti-poverty programs that help children achieve in addition to a caring school environment and supportive parents at home.

Hear her inspiring speech here.

Also check out the full report from one of K12NN’s correspondents, Joseph K., who talks about how inspiring the Save Our Schools March was.
